On Friday, July 16, 2021, a federal judge in Texas issued an order to temporarily stop issuance of new DACA approvals.

The fight is far from over. There is still hope for Dreamers. Here’s why:

President Biden is appealing to higher courts and also working on a plan to reissue regulations for a stronger DACA program.

Members of Congress are still fighting for immigration reform to create a path to citizenship for Dreamers and stop the uncertainty.

What should you do?

If you already have DACA status, you can continue to file renewals. The new judge’s order does not change that.

If you have an open or pending DACA case, our advice is to wait and see. This Texas judge’s order to stop DACA is being challenged, and we hope that the processing of new DACA applications resumes shortly!
