Change of Address Notification Requirements

May 13, 2025
All non-citizens, including lawful permanent residents (green card holders), must notify USCIS of any changes of address within 10 days of such change. A change of address may be completed through a USCIS account online, and instructions for how to file a change of address are available here.
USCIS also has instructions for how to create an online account here if you do not already have an online account.
If not able to file online, USCIS also has instructions to file on paper here, and we recommend saving a complete copy of the change of address if filing on paper, with delivery confirmation.
Failure to notify USCIS of a change of address, can results in prosecution for a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $5,000 or up to 30 days imprisonment or both.
